FAQ

How did you get started on the whole foods lifestyle?

My younger brother used to manage a health food store, and he has been doing the uber-health thing for years now. While I am nowhere near as much of a health-nut as he is, I am constantly inspired by his motivation and his knowledge of the world of nutrition. I have been into the whole foods lifestyle for about 2 years now, and I feel better than I have ever felt before.

What is your favorite healthy food?

Dark chocolate (70% cacao). Fresh berries. Greek yogurt. Oat bran. Almond butter. I have so many favorites!

What is your favorite not-so-healthy food?

Cake-y things. Oh, how I love carbs! My go-to carb fest used to be whoopie pies. But, I recently found out that my favorite brand of whoopie pies contain 5 grams of trans fat AND they’re 16 WW points each–ouch! But I still go for cookies, homemade cupcakes, and donuts.

What do you do for food at work?

I ALWAYS pack myself a cooler. I can’t go into work without my own food supply, or I will be lost in a sea of Cheetos, cookies, leftover birthday cake, and whatever else is floating around the office kitchen. I usually have high-fiber crackers or a cereal bar for snacks. For lunches, I make sure I have a protein, a fruit, a veg, a dairy, and a grain source each day. I usually eat the same thing every day for 2-3 weeks, and then when I get sick of that menu I change it up.

Does your husband eat whole foods with you?

Primarily.  The only real differences between our diets is that he eats Ramen, which I can’t eat because it’s too salty for me, and he also eats eggs every morning for breakfast. I just don’t like eggs that much. But beyond that, he eats as healthy as I do.
